物联网之解读智慧园区

We have talked about IoT networks and the importance of adapt your current business operation with this new upcoming technology, in this case we would like to focus on one specific application of IoT networks: Smart Campus.


我们提到智慧园区不仅仅是指校园,也指需要在多个建筑与设施之间互连的所有其他大型的商业应用,如:大型工厂、各种产业园区、度假胜地等。


Usually a campus is the land on which a college or universities are located, however, we will refer to smart campus not only to educational compounds, but also to all other commercial applications that required interconnections between several types of different facilities like: big factories, ship yards, vacation resorts, etc.

Before we can continue to provide deeper information regarding this topic, we will need to explain what is the Smart part on Smart campuses, since a smart campus is more than a group of applications, platforms, and infrastructures placed around campuses.

Smart Campus are complexes that uses next-generation technologies like: artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, block chain, facial recognition and smart sensors, all connected into a strategic approach using an IoT network to bring benefits like: trigger communications, automate operational processes, take attendance automatically, allow remote access and monitoring, initiate workflows and many more innovative practices to improve the quality of life and services provided. 


聚焦全貌智慧园区可以看作是智慧城市的缩影,因为它包含了特殊类型和不同类型的基础设施,设备和服务之间的交互,从而为最终用户提供个性化的体验。实现这一智慧园区的整体愿景,可以确定其主要需求是一个感知化、互联化、智能化的网络物理系统,它充分利用了园区内ICT设备的集成和物理基础设施。


Focusing in the whole panorama, smart campuses can be seen like a miniature example of smart cities, because it involves unique and different types of infrastructures, facilities, and services interacting between them to provide exclusive experiences to end users. Realizing this full vision of smart campus, we can determinate that its main need is an instrumented, interconnected, and intelligent cyber physical system that take advantages of the ICT equipment’s integration and the physical infrastructures in the campus.

网络挑战:

在智慧园区中,不同功能的传感设备会不断生成大数据。这给传统的传感器到云网络的计算,传输,存储,安全性和能耗带来了巨大的网络挑战,通常会导致大量的网络传输,高能耗,长时间处理延迟和网络安全漏洞。


Network Challenges:

In a smart campus, big data is continuously generated by the different functional sensing devices. This delivers great network challenges on the computation, transmission, storage, security and energy consumption of traditional sensor-to-cloud network, which typically incurs huge amount of network transmission, high energy consumption, long processing delay and cyber security breaches.


 

运营挑战:

为了保持智慧园区的功能和实用性,所有进程都应以一种流畅而有效的方式运行。


需要对运行状态以及设备实时监控,以在出现故障或潜在的网络安全时提供快速响应,以保持网络的安全性并提供预期的服务质量。


这给运营商和系统管理员带来了两大运营挑战:

• 24小时监控:大量的设备与终端应用、交互同时进行,很难实时监控、预防和报告破坏、未经授权的访问和其他事件。

• 耗时的意外事件管理:除了错误警报之外,意外事件管理过程还需要大量时间和精力。


Operational Challenges:

To maintain the functionality and practicality of smart campus, all processes should be running in a smooth and useful way.


Every process and equipment should be monitored to provide quick response in case of failures or potential cyber security thread, to keep the safety of the network and provide the quality of the service expected. 

 

This creates 2-big operational challenge to operators and system administrators:

·  24h monitoring: a lot of equipment’s interacting with a lot of activities and events occurring at the same time. It’s very difficult to monitor, prevent and report vandalism, unauthorized access and other incidents in real time.

· Time consuming incident Management: Besides false alarms, incident management processes require a lot of time and effort.



智慧园区里的智慧网络系统,需要支持在园区任何角落内的所有用户同时应用多个程序,设备和资源的安全、可靠和流畅性。为了实现这种服务质量,智慧园区中的智能网络必须:

• 提供无处不在的Internet,云和其他计算服务访问权限,即使是在偏远区域和非常规设备上也是如此。

• 支持实时应用程序,例如IP语音(VoIP),视频,会议,社区存储和在线交易处理。

• 为广泛的设备和应用程序提供安全性和可靠性。

Intelligent networks on Smart Campus should provide fast, secure and reliable connectivity to a multitude of applications, devices and resources wherever they are located. To achieve this quality of services, intelligent networks in smart campus must:

•Provide ubiquitous access to the internet, cloud and other computing services, even for remote locations and unconventional devices.

•Support real-time applications such as Voice over IP (VoIP), video, conferencing, community storage and online transaction processing.

•Provide security and reliability for a broad range of devices and applications.

•Maximize application performance reducing network latency and packet loss.

•Reduce operating costs and simplify management.
